Oak Creek Wildlife Area
Just beyond the eastern end of the Chinook Scenic Byway, experience a truly memorable sight at the Oak Creek Wildlife Area. Watch as elk herds numbering in the hundreds feed at multiple hay drop stations near Chinook Pass. Get an up-close look at mother elk and their calves as well as the distinguished male elk and their spectacular antlers. Over 42,000 acres provide habitat for these elk as well as hundreds of other species from bald eagles to butterflies. The wildlife is best viewed in the winter months although animals are spotted year-round.
